CANACONA
The Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) market inspector Yesso Dessai was granted conditional anticipatory bail by the Sessions Court in Margao after he was accused of a brawl at the council meeting on Thursday.
According to sources, the anticipatory bail application was filed by Yesso after Canacona police booked offences against him under Sections 323, 506 (II) IPC and the matter came up for hearing before the Sessions Court, Margao.
When contacted, Canacona PSI Remedious D’Souza said Dessai has been granted condition bail on a surety of Rs 25,000 and he has to report daily at the Canacona police station.
The IO is also free to summon him whenever he is required for probe in the case filed by CMC Chairperson Chaya Komarpant, accusing Yesso of creating ruckus in the council meeting and assaulting Dy Chairperson Shamsunder Dessai. “Though a written order is awaited, I have been orally informed at the court hearing of the conditional anticipatory bail granted to Dessai,” said PSI D’Souza.
Meanwhile, CMC CO Raju R Dessai did not report to duty in the CMC on Tuesday, one of two days he has assigned for CMC work, as he holds the post of Dy Collector and SDM of Canacona. When contacted, a reliable source informed that the chief officer had gone to Panjim on Tuesday in relation to Thursday’s incident.
