Flamboyant Congress leader Mickky Pacheco on Saturday demanded that the powers be should return all the money collected from real estate developers from outside the state for granting favours under 16-B of the Town and Country Planning Act.
He has threatened to expose the powers that be by disclosing the names of the persons and the collection agents, who had collected money running into crores of rupees for accepting applications under section 16-B of the Act.
“Ever since the amendment was brought into force in 2018, the TCP has received more than 3500 applications under section 16-B. The department has also collected the processing fees from the applicants, and in many cases the middlemen have collected huge money running into crores from the applicants. Some of the applicants have called on me with their plight as promises made to them have still not been honoured”, he said, adding that he would expose the powers that be and the middlemen involved.
On the construction that has come up in the Old Goa heritage site, Mickky said the government should give no more excuses and raze down the structure and restore the land to its original condition.
He cautioned the government against taking steps that would only allow time for the party to approach the court and delay the matter. “The government should respect the sentiments of the people and take it to its logical conclusion.”
