South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has submitted a memorandum to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy to immediately raze down the illegal structure near the Old Goa Heritage site. He suggested that the Union Minister should visit the heritage site since he is on a visit to Goa.
He also demanded that the Goa government come out with a white paper on the entire episode to expose the person behind the illegal construction and to bring to light the politician-bureaucrat nexus.
Addressing the media, the MP demanded the immediate suspension of all the officials involved in issuing the illegal permissions for the structure, saying the people of Goa will take care of the politicians involved in the illegal construciton.
Referring to TMC leader Mahua Moitra’s statement that he did not speak in Parliament on the Old Goa issue, Sardinha said issues such as the Old Goa are not raised in Parliament during zero hour for the simple reason no reply comes from the minister.
He, however, said during his visit to Delhi, he had called on the Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and handed over to him a memorandum demanding the demolition of the illegal structure. “The Minister has assured me to look into the matter,” he said.
Sardinha advised Moitra to ensure that the TMC MPs take up the issue of Bengal in Parliament, saying the MPs from Goa are quite capable of highlighting their issues, both within the parliament and outside.
On coal pollution, Sardinha reiterated his demand that the double-tracking project should be abandoned at Majorda. “We don’t want double-tracking beyond
Majorda. Government should also tackle pollution caused by coal transportation”, he demanded.
The MP urged the government to improve the internet connectivity in some remote areas of the State.
