MARGAO
The appointment of the 10 data entry operators by the Margao Municipal Council through the Goa Recruitment Society has come back to haunt the civic body.
After the office of the Director of Municipal Administration on February 1 conveyed to the Margao Municipal Council, withdrawing the approval granted for the appointment of the 10 data entry operators, the DMA’s office has now asked the MMC Chief Officer to submit a compliance report on the matter.
In fact, Additional Municipal Director Ganesh Barve pointed out in his latest letter to the MMC Chief Officer to submit the compliance report for onward submission to the government.
The development assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the fact that despite the letter from the DMA’s office dated February 1 last withdrawing the approval for the appointment of the data entry operators, the 10 operators continued to work in the civic body.
In fact, sources informed that the DMA’s direction was ignored by the Civic body on the premise that Municipality did not receive the communique.
Sources informed that the latest DMA’s letter seeking compliance report assumes significance given that the kith and kin of a couple of BJP Councilors were appointed as the data entry operators.
Meanwhile, sources did the rounds in the corridors of the Margao Municipal Council that the government has reportedly issued an order transferring the Accounts and Administrative officer. Though the order is yet to be received in the Civic body, sources said the transfer order may come anytime.
