Archana is Poinguinim dy sarpanch
CANACONA: Archana S Poinguinkar was elected unopposed as deputy sarpanch of Poinguinim Panchayat.
The post of deputy sarpanch had fallen vacant after Vallabh Tengse resigned on February 1, as part of a mutual arrangement in the nine-member Poinguinim Panchayat.
Panch Prakash Metri proposed the name of Poinguinkar, while Tengse seconded the candidature and all others present including Sarpanch Mahesh Naik supported.
Canacona BDO observer Premanand Naik declared Poinguinkar elected unopposed.
Incidentally, Tengse is likely to be appointed the next Poinguinim sarpanch, as the present incumbent Mahesh Naik, recently appointed as vice chairman of Goa Horticulture Corporation of Goa, is all set to submit his resignation within the next fortnight to make way for Tengse, informed reliable sources.
