Calling upon all stakeholders to unitedly work with the marginalised sections of society to bring a better future for the country, Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao on Monday said education has to enable millions, who has no name or face or dignity to regain their identity and self-worth.

Addressing managers of Diocesan Society of Education, school manager, teachers and students at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, on Monday, to felicitate meritorious students, the Archbishop further reminded that technology can transform education, but it cannot replace the educators, saying it is the role of the teachers to use the technology fruitfully to transform lives and enhance teaching structures.

While appreciating the teachers who left no stone unturned to give their best to the students, the Archbishop said teachers have a unique role to play in shaping the lives of students in helping them becoming accountable and carrying human beings if the objective of learning to know, learning to do, learning to be and learning to live with each other are to be achieved.

Saying that human life is a journey, he said that education is an extremely important component in this journey of life, which enables the children to bring out the best in them. “The Diocesan Society of Education runs such a large network of educational institutions at various levels in the State to enable our children to bring out of best and face the challenges in today’s life,” he added.

In his address, Fr Joaquim Loyola Pereira reminded that it is the service to the society with love and compassion that would make human beings as valuable members of the society.
