The villagers along with the members of the Panchayat body on Monday evening held a meeting in the village to chalk out the future course of action.
After the Sao Jose de Areal village panchayat set in motion the process by issuing a notice on the property owner Sartaj Makandar to stop all illegal activities forthwith at the site, the villagers along with the Panchayat members had a meeting on Monday evening to take stock of the situation and to decide the future course of action.
The panchayat members and the villagers attended the meeting near the site in question to discuss various options in order to undo the illegality at the site.
After the meeting, a village informed that villagers and the Panchayat members met to discuss the situation and to chalk out the future course of action.
Villagers have lamented that the government machinery and the police acted as mute spectators when they had to draw attention of the deputy Collector, S Khandeparkar and DySP Santosh Desai that the panchayat has given no permission or NOC to the property owner to execute work on the PCC plinth. “If the deputy Collector Khandeparkar and the police had to stop the group from taking the statue to the property in question, there would have been no tension in the village on Monday”, remarked a villager.
