MARGAO
Congress president Amit Patkar has said that Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a leader who fought against oppression and stood up for the rights of the people, believed in equality and treated people from all castes and religions with respect.
Reacting to the incident of social tension at Sao Joao De Areal during installation of statue of Chatrapati Shivaji, Congress President Amit Patkar said that it was the moral responsibility of Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldessai to ensure that all legal formalities are completed and necessary permissions are obtained before installation of the said Statue.
“It appears that the BJP has once again turned on its “polarisation mode” as the Lok Sabha elections are approaching”, Patkar said.
While making an appeal to the peace loving Goans to maintain communal harmony in Goa, Patkar said “Let us not allow the divisive forces to create a divide among us”.
