Areal villagers catch gas delivery vehicle dumping mixed waste

Areal villagers catch gas delivery vehicle dumping mixed waste Workers of the HP vehicle made to reload the waste unloaded along the roadside at Sao Jose de Areal village.

Sao Jose de Areal village witnessed an uproar after villagers caught red handed a HP LPG gas delivery van unloading mixed waste near the Nessai Industrial estate.

The villagers led by social activist Freddy Travasso got the workers to reload the waste dumped along the road side near an Industrial unit, before calling the Maina Curtorim police.

Travasso urged the police to take strong action against the HP officials and the delivery man, including the driver, when Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had issued directions recently to come down heavily on miscreants dumping mixed and plastic waste in the open.

“We fail to understand why the HP officials or agents are considering Sao Jose de Areal village as a dumping ground for waste. The Field Manager IDC and all other authorities should take cognisance of the waste dumping”, he demanded.

Before the police could arrive at the spot, the villagers got the labourers on the vehicle to reload the mixed waste, including garden waste and leaves back in the van.
