Around 200 GMC nurses demand contract renewal

PANAJI

As many as 200 contract nurses of Goa Medical College (GMC), who had been recruited during the Covid pandemic, have petitioned the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) to extend their contract.

The nurses claimed that they had received no update on the renewal of their contracts and have also demanded regularisation in services.

"The health minister had promised us that our contract would be renewed till October 2022 but nothing has been done as yet,” said a nurse.

In their letter to the Directorate of Health Services, the nurses claimed to have worked efficiently during the challenging Covid pandemic as frontline workers.

“Authorities also have to protect our well-being by ensuring our needs for job security,” said a nurse.
