Reacting to statements by IT Minister Rohan Khaunte that he was an extortionist and a land grabber, Ravindra alias Pravin Chopdekar has petitioned the Director General of Police (DGP) to arrest the minister after linking him to his assault over remarks opposing the proposed Chimbel at IT park.
In a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP) on Friday, Chopdekar stated, “I was assaulted by a gang of six persons on November 26 at around 8 pm at the behest of Khaunte for opposing the IT Park in the eco-sensitive Chimbel lake.”
“I request you to immediately arrest the minister and file an FIR against him and ensure that the culprits involved in this brutal act are brought to justice,” stated Chopdekar.
Claiming there is a possibility of misuse of government machinery and the police to protect the culprits involved in the attack, Chopdekar requested the DGP to “ensure that this criminal gang which assaulted me is made to undergo strict interrogation so as to bring out the facts of this assault and its mastermind on whose behalf the gangsters attacked me brutally and arrest the other three culprits who are moving around freely…,” said Chopdekar.
Accusing Khaunte of threatening action against all those opposing the IT Park in Chimbel, Chopdekar
added: “I request you to urgently provide me with police protection as I fear for my life because of the threats issued by the minister.”
