MAPUSA
With Covid numbers shooting up every passing day, health centres in Bardez have run out of stock of home isolation kits adding to the stress of the patients.
Recently, a patient who was tested positive in Colvale primary health centre was made to dance from pillar to post to get one such kit.
The Colvale primary health centre directed the patient to collect his home isolation kit from the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa as its stock had exhausted.
“The staff at the health centre informed the patient that they did not have stock and even gave him a written slip to collect it from the district hospital in Mapusa,” said Adv Naveen Bhivshet.
However, he said, the district hospital turned down his request stating that since he conducted the test in Colvale he has to collect the kit from that particular health centre.
Inquiries revealed that due to an increase in the number of positive cases many other health centres in Bardez have run out of home isolation kits.
Health Officer at Colvale PHC, Dr Yogesh Govekar admitted that the health centre had exhausted all its stocks of home isolation kits.
“We do not know when the stocks will be replenished. We will collect the stock as and when we are intimated. As of now, there are no stocks,” Dr Govekar said.
A home isolation kit consists of a pulse oximeter, thermometer, gloves, sanitiser and medicines. The whole package costing around Rs 2,500 is given free to the person who is tested positive.
