His one time friend and creditor Camilo Nolasco Menezes, a former sarpanch of St Estevão panchayat has written to the State Presidents of both the Congress party as well as the Nationalist Congress Party to deny him a ticket as Alemão has refused to pay up despite an order from the Bombay High Court at Goa, upholding a lower court order as well as an order to seize his assets.
Alemão has now been summoned to remain present before the Senior Civil Judge Pooja Kavlekar on January 25 for determination of proclamation of sale of his moveable assets after Menezes filed an execution application to recover his money.
According to Menezes, Churchill had borrowed from him `13.85 lakh back in November 1999 to contest the parliamentary elections that year with an assurance to return the money before May 2000.
“Alemão failed to pay the money as promised by him despite my fervent and repeated requests for the repayment of the said sum of money. I was ready to forego even the interest on the principal amount and communicated my intention to Alemão orally. However, he was refusing and neglecting to repay me even the principal sum,” Menezes said in his letter to the two leaders.
