Kejriwal had a meeting to interact with the tribal community from Quepem taluka on Sunday morning. A large number of locals turned up at Quepem Municipal hall.
Some AAP members and locals also shared their views on the present socio-political scenario of the State.
John Fernandes, a local, appreciated the move of AAP of taking views of the local people before penning the manifesto. “This will facilitate actual development, which is needed. Two major issues like Tribal Advisory Council has not been formed and the scheduled area has not been notified as yet, which should have happened,” added Fernandes.
Devidas Gaonkar from Canacona said census needs to be updated to get the exact percentage of the tribal community people in Goa.
“Tribal funds are not utilised properly and efforts are needed to uplift the tribal community and to protect and preserve tribal culture,” he said.
Ravindra Velip of Caurem said few privileged people are trying to control the economy and politics of Goa. “There are atrocities on tribal people. Gram sabhas need to be strengthened. Land which was taken away from the tribal people should be given back.” Dr Sonia Shingnapurkar said it pains to see drug menace, casino and other unresolved issues in Goa. “Politicians are politicising the issues rather than solving these,” added Shingnapurkar.
Pobre Fernandes, a local, said farmers’ issues need to be addressed. “Several welfare schemes meant for common people do not reach them. Many farmers are giving up agricultural activities, as they are not getting adequate rates for their crop produce,” said Fernandes.
Later, Kejriwal responded to all the queries which were raised by the tribal people. “All the issues raised by the locals will be solved if AAP comes to power in the State,” assured Kejriwal.

and locals.
