Commandos of the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS), a specialised unit of Goa Police, on Tuesday carried out a mock practice for the safety of ballot boxes at the Ravindra Bhavan in Baina.
Sources said the mock practice was held in Ravindra Bhavan where Ballot Boxes will be stored and counting will be conducted for panchayat polls.
"The Mock Drill was conducted regarding room intervention at Ravindra Bhawan, Vasco and Collector Office, Margao in presence of SDM and staff at both places. Similar mock drills exercises will be conducted at all ballot storage strong rooms and counting centres in every taluka to deal with any untoward incident if reported,” said a source.
“Such mock drills help commandos understand the topography, entry, exits and structure survey during any crisis. These exercises are conducted under the guidance and supervision of SP ATS Shobit Saxena, DySP ATS Rajan Nigalye and PI ATS (Operations) Raia Naik," the source added.
