After failing the previous time to elicit any response from bidders, the State Bank of India (SBI) led consortium is trying yet again to auction Kingfisher Villa in Candolim on December 22. This was confirmed by highly placed sources.
This villa was previously owned by much controversial industrialist Vijay Mallya. Sources also revealed that the reserve price of Kingfisher Villa has been reduced by 5% to Rs 81 crore now.
Prior to this, the SBI led consortium tried auctioning the villa in October for Rs 85.29 crore, but not a single bidder had turned up.
Mallya owed these banks around Rs 9,000 crore and this auction is meant to recover a part of this whopping amount due.
