Japanese naval ship on visit

VASCO: JMSDF ships 'JS Inazuma' and 'JS Suzutsuki' are on a goodwill visit to Goa from December 20 to 22.

Inazuma and Suzutsuki are Murasame and Akizuki class destroyers respectively of the Escort Division Four. The Commander of this Division is Captain Atsushi Minami. Both the ships are currently berthed at MPT.

JS Inazuma and JS Suzutsuki are both 151 mtrs in length and are commanded by Cdr Soichiro Tashiro and Cdr Kentaro Nakayama respectively, and they called on Rear Admiral Puneet K Bahl, VSM, the Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area on Tuesday.

A team of 30 Indian Navy officers and sailors visited the Japanese ships for familiarization and interaction with the officers and crew. Various operating procedures and techniques were discussed between the hosts and the visiting officers.

The ships are scheduled to depart on December 22, and will participate in a passage exercise with Indian Naval Frigate INS Trishul prior setting course for Japan.
