The District Collector told the media that the control rooms at the Mamlatdar offices and the district Collectorate have started operating from May 15, adding that the administration has banned road digging in the district from June 1 to July 31.
“The job of the district management authority is to ensure coordination amongst various agencies so that the resources are mobilised within the shortest possible time. We had a success in the recent Sanvordem footbridge tragedy when the stakeholders were mobilised within an hour of the incident,” he said, adding that the authority should ensure that the system works when required.
“We have put in a plan of action wherein even places have been identified for evacuation of people. We have been holding mock drills all over the district. The Airport Authority has been doing their mock drills,” he said, while exuding confidence that the disaster management authority will meet any situation in times of emergency.
