An autopsy on the bodies of two tourists from Uttar Pradesh, who were found dead at Palolem beach on Tuesday, have revealed that both had died due to drowning.The bodies of Supriya Dubey (26) and Vibhu Sharma (27) were handed over to their respective relatives after an autopsy on Wednesday.
According to Investigating Officer Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas, the cause of death is given as drowning in water in both cases.
“The bodies are handed over to the families/relatives of the deceased and the concerned are taking the bodies to Ghaziabad-Uttar Pradesh, the native state of the deceased,” said PI Gawas.
According to sources, the respective families of both the deceased were contacted by police after recovering the bodies on Tuesday based on contacts found on the girl’s mobile.
The mobile belonging to Vibhu Sharma was reportedly not found and it is believed to have been lost at sea.
Sources said Supriya worked in Bangalore and had arrived in Goa from Bangalore, while Vibhu, who worked in the film industry, reached Goa from Bombay a few days ago. They had shifted from North Goa to Palolem on Sunday.
While the body of Supriya was found on the beach early Tuesday morning, a foreign national who was swimming in the afternoon noticed Vibhu’s body floating in the sea.
