The Goa Police will place before the Bombay High Court the status of the investigation into the alleged land grab in which Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar is one of the accused.Hearing a petition filed by Arolkar to quash the FIR registered against him, the High Court sought a report on the investigation that has been carried out so far.
The prosecution assured the court that it would file the “necessary report in a closed envelope latest by tomorrow.”
According to a complaint filed by Adv Aires Rodrigues, Arolkar is accused of having “grabbed” land admeasuring 1.48-lakh square metres.
However, Arolkar has stated that the complaint in question is nothing but a land dispute between different sections of the family of the original owners that has needlessly been given a criminal angle.
