Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has urged the literate youth from the ST community to come forward and help the old illiterate locals to avail benefits of government schemes.
He was speaking during an awareness camp on various government schemes organised by Paroda Panchayat in association with the Directorate of Tribal Welfare at Paroda.
Speaking further, Tawadkar said tribal welfare schemes should be availed by the needy people from the ST community, which most of the times are not availed. “Those educated from this community should come forward and help to fill forms and attach required documents of the old, needy and uneducated from the community,” said Tawadkar.
He also encouraged the locals present at the camp to come forward and voice their grievances regarding agricultural activities.
Tawadkar assured the ST community from Paroda to organise a special mega agricultural camp in the village, if locals are willing.
Paroda Sarpanch Deepak Kharangate along with other panchas pointed to the minister that people face difficulties in availing Atal Asara and other schemes related to housing. They said that as people from the ST community reside in landlords property, producing necessary documents becomes difficult. They demanded that the schemes be given on a house tax receipt issued by the panchayat.
Cuncolim MLA Rajan Naik, Director of Tribal Welfare Department Sandhya Kamat, ZP member Meenaxi Gaonkar, Clafacio Dias, Mahadev Devasthan president Devu Gaonkar and panchayat members were present on the occasion.
