PORVORIM

The tourism department conducted the ‘Enlightening Sri Ram Jyoti event’ to commemorate the Sri Ram Temple consecration ceremony and ‘Pran Pratishtapana’ at Sri Ram Temple, Ayodhya, last week.

Union Minister Shripad Naik, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, and a large number of people were present at the event.

The programme began with a devoted performance by over 150 students who chanted shlokas, Ram stotras, and performed an aarti. A special Dindi performance thrilled the audience, resulting in a phenomenal cultural experience. This was followed by a Bhajan Sandhya, a group recitation of Stotra’s and classical dances based on the Ramayana theme.

The celebrations continued with a Dindi performance by Shri Ram Gajar, the illumination of 1000 ‘Diyas’ by devotees, and the lighting of 150 Divajas by local women dressed in traditional attire.

Speaking on the occasion, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte Lord Ram has been known for his courage, loyalty and devotion.

“He is symbol of perseverance and justice and a role model of perfect human being. The story of Ramayan is a reflection of the highest moral standards and virtues that should be imbibed and emulated by every human being,” said Khaunte.

Khaunte further mentioned that the temple’s construction is more than just an engineering marvel, it is also a spiritual journey that has united millions of hearts.

Union Minister Sripad Naik mentioned that Lord Ram went to ‘Vanvas’ for 14 years as per the wishes of his parents.

“The sacrifices made by Lord Ram in his lifetime are unique and praiseworthy. He is considered the embodiment of righteousness, devotion and sacrifice,” said Naik.

Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade highlighted the virtues of Lord Ram and appealed to the youth to follow his teachings. The celebration culminated with the Maha Aarti followed by the distribution of Prasad and fireworks.
