Panaji Sessions Court on Saturday rejected the bail application moved by graft-accused Goa University Executive Engineer Amit Srivastava.
Srivastava had moved the application immediately after his arrest on Thursday.
The arguments were heard by the Court on the next day while reserving its order for Saturday.
Anti-Corruption Bureau had nabbed Srivastava, an executive engineer posted at the engineering and technical service division of Goa University, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a housekeeping contractor.
In his complaint submitted before the ACB, the housekeeping contractor Gopi Peket said that Srivastava has made an illegal demand of bribe from Hema Sundar Reddy, owner of Panorama Enterprises housekeeping agency.
Upon receiving the complaint, ACB laid a trap and the accused Shrivastava was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 50,000 from the complainant Peket near the main gate of Ocean Park Residential Complex, Dona Paula.
