OLD GOA
Authorities on Wednesday built the road from GMC superspeciality complex connecting the Bambolim village road under heavy police protection, despite objections from former deputy sarpanch of Curca Marvin Gonsalves.
The authorities were led by Deputy Collector Rajesh Azgaonkar, with Tiswadi SDPO Sudesh Naik, Agassaim PI Vikram Naik, Old Goa PI Satish Padwalkar, Panaji PI Nikhil Palekar forming part of the police force.
When the authorities arrived, Gonsalves questioned whether there was any work order for the construction work and raised objections stating that it would affect the smooth passage for the Bambolim locals as it would add more traffic to the already congested and narrow road.
Gonsalves further claimed that the health minister had promised that no road from the superspeciality hospital would be connected to the village road and that entrance and exit would be from the MDR.
However, the authorities did not pay heed and went ahead with the road construction with the help of JCB machine, in the presence of strong police force which was totally prepared to face any eventuality.
