South Goa District Collector Ajit Roy has imposed a complete ban on all use of lantern and other kites and use of high-intensity laser beams, especially during festivals, within 10 kms of Dabolim airport boundary to avoid danger to the safety of aircraft during landing and take-off.
The order issued under section 144 of the Cr PC will come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force for a further period of 60 days.
The order has directed all the police officers of the rank of PIs and above in Mormugao to ensure strict implementation of the order. Those found violating the order will be prosecuted under Section 188 of Indian Penal code.
The Collector’s order comes in the wake of the periodic meetings of the Central Ministry of Civil Aviation.
