PERNEM
Pernem taluka reported its eighth Covid death on Wednesday, while the total number of cases reached 768 after 22 new patients were detected positive.
The deceased is from Arambol and is the mother of one panch member.
The new cases were reported in Korgao (3), Torsem (1), Ibrampur (2), Mopa (3), Dhargal (3), Pernem town (5), Virnoda (1), Parcem (1), Mandrem (2) and Arambol (1).
So far, 532 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus and more than 200 are active cases.
The eight deaths have been reported in Tambose (1), Ugvem (1), Parcem (1), Keri (1), Talarn (1), Pernem town (2) and Arambol (1).
Mandrem is the worst-hit panchayat with 130 cases, followed by Pernem town (76), Dhargal (64), Arambol (57) and Korgao (53).
