A special meeting will be held on Thursday morning to elect the new Deputy Sarpanch of Bandora. The post had fallen vacant after Ramchandra Naik had resigned last month.
Bandora panchayat, which has been in limelight recently over the alleged developed plots on comunidade land at Farmagudi, falls under Marcaim constituency represented by Minister for PWD Sudin Dhavalikar. Sources informed that panch member Santosh Phadate, believed to share a close rapport with Dhavalikar, will be elected on the post.
Last year, Sulkasha Naik had resigned from the Sarpanch's post, and subsequently Nayan Naik was elected to the post on July 21, 2014. Sources informed that panch members resign from their post only to avoid questions of villagers over comunidade land scam.
