Bastora highlights nuisance

MAPUSA: Residents of Bastora have complained to the panchayat that some people were sitting on the new footpath on the road proceeding to Bastora and drinking alcohol at night, thereby creating a law and order problem.

The issue was raised at a recent meeting in the village and it was resolved to ask the Mapusa police to intensify patrolling around the area and even to write to the DGP on the issue.

When another resident pointed that plastic garbage was not being collected, the panchayat informed the residents that the waste collector had recently quit and efforts were afoot to look for a new person who could take up the job.

A garbage committee was set up to look into the matter of garbage collection in the village.

Bastora Sarpanch Pratiksha Mayenkar along with the panch members were present at the meeting.
