About 30 local BBSM activists took part in the rally under the guidance of senior BBSM member Adv Swati Kerkar from Sakhali, after accusing Sawant of withdrawing permission to convene a meeting at Ravindra Bhavan in Sakhali. “Local language lovers strongly condemn the act of the MLA, who withdrew the permission that was given to us to organise a meeting at Ravindra Bhavan Sakhali,” stated Adv Kerkar. “BBSM had also made the required payment, but it has now been returned. The government is scared following the growing support the BBSM received at the Mandrem meeting and in other villages and towns,” added Kerkar. When contacted, legislator Sawant said the decision to withdraw permission was taken by the government.
