BBSM tears into BJP govt, says it has scored a ‘zero’ in edu

MARGAO

Accusing Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and leaders of the coalition, Sudin Dhavlikar and Vijai Sardesai, for the state of affairs in the field of education, health and social security, the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch on Monday said the government has no right to remain in power if it cannot address the burning issues plaguing the state and its people.

Members of the BBSM held a dharna in front of the Old Collectorate building on Monday to protest against the government’s failure on the education and other fronts.

BBSM leader Adv Uday Bhembre told the media that the coalition government has scored a big zero in the field of education.

“They cannot run education. The government has no agenda to boost education. They cannot run primary schools and have even failed to recruit teachers. There are around 100 vacant posts in the Goa University, whose position has gone down from 20 to 86. The present government is responsible for the sorry state of affairs,” Bhembre said, while asserting that the government has made a big mess in the field of education.

He said a similar situation is prevailing in the field of governance and politics. While holding the BJP, MGP and the GFP for the mess, Bhembre charged Manohar Parrikar, Sudin Dhavlikar and Vijai Sardesai for acting irresponsibly. “This is the first time a state’s Chief Minister is abroad without giving powers back home. The Chief Minister is the head of the government, but as of today there is no head,” he said.

Saying that it is an act of irresponsibility on the part of Parrikar for not giving powers to rule in his absence, Bhembre, however, attributed the present situation to Sudin Dhavlikar and Vijai Sardesai, who had imposed a condition that they would only support Parrikar as the head of the government and no one else.

“The trio, Manohar Parrikar, Sudin Dhavlikar and Vijai Sardesai will have to reply to the people of Goa. People are not going to remain silent in a democracy. Already, the people have started agitating and it will become intense in the coming days,” he added.

Bhembre and other members of the BBSM questioned the government’s inordinate delay in granting permissions to open new primary schools in the state.

“The new academic year will commence from a month and half from now. But the government is yet to grant permission to new schools,” he said, adding “there’s no government. The earlier this government leaves, the better it would be for Goa and its people.”
