PORVORIM
Saligao MLA Kedar Naik announced that the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) will soon undertake the beautification of Betim Jetty, with an estimated budget of around Rs 1 crore.

GSIDC officials have already visited the site and prepared project estimates, which are currently awaiting approval from the Finance Department. Following the approval and receipt of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the River Navigation Department (RND), work on the project will commence.

“Betim Jetty is a beautiful location. All the shops at the jetty will be realigned, and seating arrangements will be created for visitors,” Naik stated during a function in Reis Magos, where he launched the reconstruction of four drains. The event was attended by Reis Magos Sarpanch Sushmita Pednekar, ZP member Sandeep Bandodkar, Panch Subhash Pednekar, and local residents.

Naik said that the four drains at Tuant, originally constructed during the Portuguese era, will be reconstructed by the Water Resource Department at a cost of Rs 12 lakh. “This has been a long-standing demand from the locals. Once the drains are reconstructed, all internal roads in Reis Magos will undergo hotmixing, and new electric poles will be installed where necessary,” he added.

In addition, the MLA urged the RND to ensure that two ferry boats are available at all times for transporting passengers between Betim and Panaji.
