Beautified Salmona spring by month-end, assures MLA

SALIGAO
Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar has said the Salmona spring beautification is nearing completion and the spring will be reopened to the public by the month-end.

Speaking at Saligao after launching work to widen the approach road towards the Mae de Deus Church, Salgaonkar said the Salmona spring had been neglected for several years.

“The spring is being beautified at a cost of around Rs 1.2 crore,” said Salgaonkar.

Commenting on the road-widening work towards the Mae de Deus Church, Salgaonkar said the approach road towards the Mae de Deus Church is very narrow and during the church feast, people would find it difficult to park their vehicles.

“There was a persistent demand from locals to widen the road. But since there was a field by the roadside, the Saligao panchayat managed to obtain permission from the landlord to widen the road. This road-widening work will be carried out at a cost of Rs 25 lakh,” said Salgaonkar.

He also said the road in front of the Saligao panchayat would be hot mixed soon. “Work to repair the Chogm road has begun and the road will then be hot mixed,” said Salgaonkar.

Saligao Sarpanch Lafira Gomes, panch members Lucas Remedios, Kalpana Oraskar, Parish Priest Fr John D’Silva and former sarpanch Eknath Oraskar were present on the occasion. The sarpanch said widening of the approach road to Mae de Deus church was a long-pending demand of the locals.
