A motorcyclist from Mangaon-Sawantwadi was seriously injured in a road mishap on the national highway at Torsem on Saturday evening.
According to reports, a container truck and a motorcycle collided on a dangerous bend near the Torsem Pragati B Ed College at about 6.30 pm.
The rider, Swapnil Tawde, was seriously injured in the mishap and was shifted to the Tuem hospital for treatment.
The mishap is reported to have taken place at a sharp turn and while Tawde was proceeding from Pernem to Sawantwadi, the container truck was travelling to Panaji via Banda
According to locals, since there was no 108 ambulance available, one had to be called from Mandrem. They complained bitterly that mishaps on the route were on the rise.
The police, who were at the spot, are investigating.
