Noted orthopaedic surgeon and former IMA president from Belagavi Dr Anil B Patil received a major relief after the Railway Police at Margao recovered goods and cash which were stolen from his car from Belagavi.
One laptop, 2 tabs, 3 mobiles, 2 keypads, 2 watches and Rs 6,930 in cash which was stolen from his car on Tuesday were recovered by the Railway Police at Margao on Wednesday and the accused were also arrested at the Margao Railway station.
Three Tamil Nadu natives have been arrested with the stolen items and have been handed over to Belagavi police late Thursday.
The arrested, who have been identified as Ekambaramba, Arunkumaran and Umanath from Tamil Nadu, have been handed over to Tilakwadi police after which they were sent to Hindalga prison pending an inquiry.
According to Railway police, the accused were found suspiciously at a waiting room in the station on Wednesday morning.
"They arrived at Margao station from the Goa Express and were suspiciously waiting at a waiting room. After interrogations, they revealed that they were travelling from Belagavi and were waiting to enter Goa for more burglaries. They were planning to leave for Tamil Nadu after some more burglaries in Margao. However, we nabbed them and handed them over to the Tilakwadi police along with the goods,” RPF PI Vinod Mishra said.
Relieved after his belongings that were recovered in record time, Dr Patil said he was shocked by the manner they had burgled his car.
“Though the car was locked, the items and purses kept in the car were visible after which they swiftly broke the window glasses and made away with the items. Railway PI Mishra made a video call to me to confirm about my belongings. I appreciate the presence of mind the Margao RPF team showed to recover my valuables,” said Dr Patil, lauding their efforts.
