Commuters from Goa and Karnataka faced huge inconvenience after the Belagavi-Goa highway was closed between Anmod and Ramnagar due to waterlogging since early Wednesday afternoon following incessant rains in the ghats region.
Many vehicles were held on either side as about four-feet deep water had stagnated in about half a kilometre stretch. Later in the afternoon, a tractor and a few vehicles were stuck in the water, leaving the road out of bounds.
Authorities couldn’t clear the road as the water couldn’t be pumped out till late Wednesday night. Meanwhile, commuters had to face huge inconvenience as the Hemadaga route was also closed by the forest authorities after 6 pm.
