MARGAO
Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim and Velim MLAs Capt Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva seemed to have passed the Kejriwal test with flying colours, so much so that AAP national leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the work carried out by the two MLAs will help the party to grow and keep it in good stead to form a government in Goa in 2027.
Kejriwal along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan and other leaders in tow descended in Benaulim represented by Capt Venzy Viegas and later in Velim, the home constituency of MLA Cruz Silva to check the report card of the works executed by the MLAs in the last two years.
As the Benaulim MLA showcased the Mohalla clinic in Benaulim and his Velim counterpart taking Kejriwal to the paddy fields at Chinchinim revived after lying barren for decades, the Delhi Chief Minister appeared satisfied with the work of the two MLAs.
The Delhi Chief Minister along with Punjab Chief Minister paid a condolence visit to the family of Jenito Vaz, who was gored to death by a bull at Pedda-Varca. And, before the entourage went to see the fields revived at Chinchinim, both Kejriwal and Maan paid tributes to the Father of Opinion Poll, Dr Jack de Sequeira at his statue in Ambelim.
In Benaulim, Kejriwal gave all credit to the Benaulim MLA for setting up the Mohalla clinic in the constituency. “We have a chain of mohalla clinics in Delhi as well as in Punjab, where AAP is in power. In Benaulim, our MLA has set up a Mohalla clinic when the State is ruled by BJP. Venzy has achieved the feat with the help and donations from companies and individuals,” he said, apparently trying to drive home the point that AAP can do wonders in Goa if given the responsibility to rule the State in 2027.
At Velim too, Kejriwal lauded the efforts of the Velim MLA Cruz Silva for his initiative to revive the barren fields in Chinchinim in coordination with the local villagers. Taking a dig at former Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues, Kejriwal said the fields have been lying barren at the backyard of Filipe Neri’s house all these years, but have now been revived by the AAP MLA.
