From the Tolleaband lake, wherein villagers assembled in the morning to demand the bypass on stilts, the scene later shifted to the Benaulim panchayat where the villagers were expecting the Panchayat body to adopt a resolution on the matter.
As the panchayat meeting went on till afternoon, villagers led by Benaulim ZP member Hanzel Fernandes were seen at the Panchayat ghar till 2 pm, waiting for the Panchayat to take a call on filing a petition in the High Court to get the bypass on stilts.
After the meeting, deputy Sarpanch Nilesh Prabhudesai told The Goan that since the MLA Venzy Viegas has taken up the responsibility to provide a lawyer to represent the panchayat in the High Court, the panchayat has decided to file a petition in the High Court.
“The MLA has agreed to provide a lawyer to the panchayat. Hence, the panchayat has decided to authorise the lawyer to file a petition on its behalf in the Court as part of the efforts to get the bypass on stilts,” Prabhudesai said.
