Complaining of issues pertaining to water, power and roads, locals at the gram sabha in Bethora on Sunday resolved that the local MLA and WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar should be invited to address public grievances at gram sabhas.

The gram sabha, which was chaired by Bethora Sarpanch Umesh Gawade, discussed a number of issues, with Panch members Madhu Khandeparkar, Chandrakant Samant, Durgaprasad Vaidya and others participating in the discussions.

Locals complained that various issues are pending and even if proposals are passed in the gram sabha, development works do not proceed. They claimed that though Shirodkar had been intimated of these issues, he has not replied to their letters.

Hence, a proposal was passed to ask Shirodkar to attend a gram sabha at least once in a year.

The issues of sewage along the borders of Bethora and Curti panchayats have been pending for long.

Sewage water from residences flows on the roads at Bethora, prompting the gram sabha to put up a proposal demanding a joint inspection by the health department, PWD and Panchayat.

A proposal to demolish the government primary school building, which is not in use, has been forwarded to the education department, as kids go there to play and the roof of the building could collapse.

Locals accused a Ponda Municipal Council vehicle of throwing garbage in Bethora. When this was noticed few days ago, a fine of Rs 5,000 was obtained from the PMC. Locals in Bethora have decided to write to the PMC to not throw their garbage in Bethora.
