In an obvious reference to the entry of new political parties into the state ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday cautioned Goans to beware of outside forces coming into the state to create man-made disasters.
He sought the support of the people of Goa to face these forces, urging the people to remain united, as he promised that the government and the administration will stand by the people in addressing their issues.
“The people of Goa had faced various problems and issues, including natural disasters when the government, administration and the people unitedly faced these disasters. But, we have now seen that outside forces are coming to create man-made disasters”, he said, while speaking at the ESI hospital, after inaugurating a Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen plant set up under the PM CARES on Thursday morning.
Taking everyone by surprise, the Chief Minister continued “I appeal to the people of Goa to stay united and alert as various disasters will come into Goa. These outside forces are coming into Goa to create man-made disasters”, he said.
He added: “The government is working to serve the people and we expect the people to support the people-centric government”, he added.
While the Chief Minister immediately left the venue to head to the South Goa district hospital to inaugurate another plant, Sawant’s statement on the outside forces became a talking point amongst the audience.

PM for 7 PSA plants in Goa
MARGAO: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation 35 new Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants across the country via virtual mode on Thursday, including one in Goa at the South Goa district hospital, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant commissioned another PSA plant at the ESI Hospital, Margao.
The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for sanctioning seven PSA plants for Goa, saying all the plants have taken shape and will become functioning after certification from a Bengaluru-based agency.
The Chief Minister, Health Minister, Director of Health Services, and the Hospicio medical Superintendent and health care workers of the South district hospital watched the programme.
Sawant along with the health minister later commissioned the PSA plant at the district hospital.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Goa has toned up the oxygen infrastructure in the state to meet any situation. Apart from the seven PSA plants sanctioned under PM CARES, the Chief Minister said oxygen generating plants have been set up across the state with CSR from Goa Shipyard and SBI.
Reassuring the people of Goa that the state will not fall short of oxygen supply even if the third waves become a reality, the Chief Minister said the government has also build oxygen storage tanks which will help store oxygen transported from other states. “We are today self-reliant in oxygen supply”, he said.
The seven PSA plants are set up at South Goa district hospital, Old GMC, Super specialty block, ESI, Chicalim hospital, North Goa district hospital.
He urged the people to cooperate with the government to make Goa hundred per cent successful in the second dose vaccination by October 30.
