Chief Electrical Engineer Dipak Bhajekar had written to the government to allow him to complete one year instead of curtailing his deputation to just nine months.
Speaking to The Goan, D S Bhajekar, said that he has already written to the Goa Government and his request could be considered by the government even now, after they have served him a notice terminating his deputation.
“It may be considered or it may not be. But I had sought that I at least complete one year here in Goa,” Bhajekar, who was appointed in September last year on deputation from the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited after the Goa Electricity Department had no qualified person to fill the post.
Bhajekar was an additional general manager at the PGCIL when he was appointed and subsequently in January this year, he was promoted to the post of General Manager in the Corporation. The promotion, however, does not make him eligible for a higher salary and, as such, continuing with him would not have any added financial implications for the government.
The PGCIL had written to the Goa Government to relieve him for one day in order to claim the promotion before returning to duties at the Goa Electricity Department. However, the government refused such permission saying that such a thing has never been done before and instead issued him a month’s notice terminating his deputation.
