PANAJI: The Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar conferred the Bhaskar Awards for contribution in the fields of social work, art, industry, cooperation, literature, music, dance, rural development, medicine, agriculture, etc, at a function at Kala Academy. The function was organized by Maharashtra Journalists Foundation.

Social workers Dr Praksh Amte and his wife Dr Mandakini Amte and Dnyaneshwar Tapikar were awarded for social work, rehabilitation of tribal people while Adv Ajit Singh Rane, labour leader was honored for the work done for the labour community.

The Chief Minister speaking on the occasion said that it is the duty of every human being to dedicate himself for the cause of society. He said further that a good act towards social cause is rewarded by the society as a token of appreciation and recognition. Therefore we should not ignore our role and duty towards the society.

Padmashree Dr Prakash Amte said he is inspired by his father Baba Amte who worked all his life for the rehabilitation of victims of leprosy and tribal people in Hemalkasa in Maharashtra.

Uday Lingam Thigle, Kamalakar Patil both members of MJF, and other dignitaries from the field of music, industry, cooperation literature attended the function. Shambhu Bandekar of Dalit Sanghatana presided.
