With the government not on their side on the demand for a bypass road, the Bhoma locals invoked the Gods for divine help for justice.
On Sunday, the locals prayed at the temples of Shree Nagzarkar at Bhoma and Shree Katamgal at Farmagudi to seek divine intervention so that the powers that be are either enlightened or punished for bulldozing their way through with the road widening project in the village.
Speaking to The Goan, a local informed that the authorities, the politicians, the police are not on their side due to which they have now prayed to the Gods to come to their help.
“We have prayed that the Gods enlighten the minds of the politicians so that a bypass road is built, which will save our temples, our houses, our culture,” the local stated.
Another local informed that they have also prayed to the God to punish those responsible for forcibly trying to impose the autocratic decision on the Bhomkars.
Leader Sanjay Naik said, “We tried all options available with us to impress upon the government to build a bypass road, which is
more feasible.”
”However, it appears that nobody is in a mood to listen to us, not even the court,” Naik said while outlining the reason for invoking the Gods for divine help.
“We are tired of fighting the adamant government and we now leave it to God either to enlighten the minds or punish the ones responsible for the decision to build the road through the village,” Naik added.
Interestingly, the last time the locals had invoked the Gods, PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral was asked to resign from his post.
