Uguem villagers call for urgent removal of hazardous pole

High mast stands in middle of main junction at Uguem

SANGUEM

The villagers from Uguem have urged the Electricity Department to immediately replace and shift the live high mast electricity pole standing dangerously in the middle of the main junction at Uguem village in Sanguem.

The pole is highly corroded at the bottom and is likely to fall if any vehicle hits it.

Almost more than half the pole at its bottom is corroded and lies exposed open to the weather, informed a villager, Navlo Natasho.

Ever since the work of the road widening undertaken by PWD, the pole has been dangerously standing in the middle of the road as the department failed to get the pole shifted to a safer place after the completion of the road widening work.

As the pole is located in the middle of the road, there is every possibility of motorists hitting the pole leading to unfortunate eventualities.

The villagers also anticipate a disaster waiting to happen in the event of the pole having a fall as it would directly land on the transformer which stands exactly opposite the pole.
