Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai commenced the festive announcement by extending his joyous greetings to the people of Goa for the approaching New Year 2024. Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Governor Pillai remarked, “The New Year is a joyous event when we refresh our thoughts and prepare for new achievements.”
He emphasised the need for unity, harmony, and social solidarity, encouraging the people to set aside differences, foster love, and renew friendships. Pillai concluded with a hope that the New Year would rekindle the spirit of unity and compassion, promoting peace and harmony throughout the state.
Following suit, CM Pramod Sawant shared his best wishes for the New Year, extending hopes for good health, happiness, and wellness in every Goan family. Sawant urged reflection on the past year, calling for a release of harsh feelings and learning from experiences. Highlighting the government’s commitment to welfare schemes, he encouraged a collective effort towards self-reliance, aiming for progress and development in all spheres.
In a spiritual perspective, Archbishop of Goa and Daman Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes for a Happy New Year filled with God’s blessings. Acknowledging the universal yearning for peace and well-being, regardless of religious or cultural backgrounds, Cardinal Neri stressed the urgency of peace-building in today’s troubled world.
He called upon everyone to join hands and commit to tireless peace-making at all levels. Additionally, he reminded the community about the upcoming year of the Solemn Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier, urging spiritual and mental preparation for this grace-filled occasion.
