Bicholim woman succumbs to burn injuries

A 30-year-old married woman from Dhabdhaba-Bicholim, who had attempted to immolate herself, succumbed to her injuries at GMC hospital on Friday.

According to Bicholim PI Narayan Chimulkar, Harsha Hari Mandrekar had poured kerosene on her body and had set herself ablaze on February 13.

“She had committed the act as she was frustrated with the behaviour of her husband,” said PI Chimulkar.

The deceased who had sustained 90 per cent burn injuries was undergoing treatment at GMC hospital, but succumbed to her injuries on Friday.

After an inquest, the body was handed over to relatives for final rites. PSI Amir Taral is conducting investigations under the guidance of PI Chimulkar.
