Bike-borne duo snatch gold chain in Canca

MAPUSA

A woman was robbed of her gold chain by two motorcycle-borne youths near a roadside shop in Verla-Canca on Sunday.

According to police, the incident occurred when two men on a bike stopped near the woman.

The pillion rider dismounted and initially asked her for cigarettes.

When she informed him that she didn't sell cigarettes, he requested a bottle of water.

Amid the distraction, the man swiftly snatched the gold chain from the woman’s neck, quickly got back on the bike, and the duo sped off.

The woman had little time to react as the incident unfolded rapidly.

Both suspects were wearing black jackets, with their faces partially covered, a pattern commonly seen in chain-snatching cases.

The victim mentioned that this was not the first such incident in the area, with at least three similar thefts occurring in recent times.

Mapusa Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
