Two arrested for ATM theft of Rs 4.62 lakh in Arpora

MAPUSA

Anjuna police have arrested two individuals in connection with the theft of Rs 4.62 lakh from an ATM machine in Arpora.

The suspects, Rustom Haq (37) and Mijanur Mulla (45), both residents of Assagao but originally from New Delhi, were intercepted and taken into custody following the incident, which occurred early Saturday morning.

The arrest came after a complaint was filed by Saurabh Bhadoria, who reported that unknown persons had cut open an ATM machine and stolen cash.

Acting swiftly, the police launched an investigation and identified Haq and Mulla as the culprits.

According to a senior police official, the accused used gas cutters to break into the ATM and steal the money.

Further investigation revealed that the duo is suspected to be involved in other ATM thefts as well.

The two suspects have been charged under relevant sections of the law, and the police are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of their criminal activities.
