Panaji:
A biker had a narrow escape in St Cruz this morning when a massive tree crashed onto the road near the Police Outpost. The fallen branches and debris halted traffic until the local panchayat and fire & emergency teams arrived to clear the obstruction.
The State has been experiencing heavy rainfall over the past two days. This has also led to an increase in tree-felling incidents.
The authorities are yet to identify dangerous trees in many parts of the State, despite assurances by the government in light of a couple of fatal accidents owing to tree falls this monsoon
