Birch owner breaks silence a day after Arpora inferno; police issue LOC

PANAJI: A day after the devastating blaze at Birch by Romeo Lane in Arpora claimed 25 lives, club owner Saurabh Luthra, who has been booked for culpable homicide, issued his first public statement on social media today.

In his post, Luthra wrote, "The management expresses profound grief and is deeply shaken by the tragic loss of lives resulting from the unfortunate incident at Birch. In this hour of irreparable sorrow and overwhelming distress, we stand in unwavering solidarity with the families of the deceased as well as those injured, and convey our heartfelt condolences with utmost sincerity," adding that the management would extend all possible assistance and support to those affected.

Meanwhile, the Goa Police have dispatched a team to New Delhi to arrest Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra. A Look Out Circular (LOC) has been issued against the duo, and an FIR has been registered against them and the event organisers under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including culpable homicide and acts endangering life.

Four senior staffers, Rajiv Modak, Priyanshu Thakur, Rajveer Singhania, and Vivek Singh, were arrested yesterday. A fifth arrest was made today when Bharat Kohli, who oversaw the daily operations of Romeo Lane, was taken into custody in Delhi.
