BJP’s central leadership defuses CM, HM tension

MAPUSA
In a damage control exercise, the BJP’s central leadership intervened to try and sort out differences between the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant which was threatening to blow out of proportion amid critical shortage of oxygen supply in GMC.

BJP’s State President Sadanand Tanavde intervened and felicitated a meeting between the two cabinet colleagues at the CM’s residence on Wednesday evening.

A senior BJP member informed that at the moment the priority was to save lives and not get into one-upmanship. “We cannot confuse and fight among ourselves and send wrong signals to people. We have to solve and not create problems,” the senior BJP member said.

BJP State President Sadanand Tanavde admitted that he had a meeting with the CM and the health minister but refused to divulge anything.

“We do meet quite often and today was one of those days we met to discuss party issues. It was basically an internal matter party. There are no differences among the two as it is made out to be in the media. The matter has been resolved. There are no issues between the two,” Tanavde said.

Sources informed that top central leadership had to intervene to sort out the differences between the CM and the health minister.

The Health Minister tweeted about the meeting. “We discussed commissioning another 250-300 beds and more than 150 HFNOs in the Super Specialty Block,” he said.

“In our continuous efforts to reduce mortalities due to Covid-19 in the state, we will also be working on adding more stringent measures. Our team is working persistently to contain the surge in cases and to bring the virus under control,” he added.
